In this episode, we kick off 2022 and our first theme block of the year by returning to one of our favorite genres to celebrate #GialloJanuary. We start off by leaving the beaten path of the most popular gialli directors to check out Luciano Ercoli’s Death Walks at Midnight. Michael finds himself lost in the labyrinthine twists and turns of the film’s many red herrings. Dustin becomes enamored with Nieves Navarro. Jason ponders the film’s low kill count and other elements that might hold this one back from perfection. But before all that, we briefly revisit our genre breakdown on giallo from our episode on The Fifth Cord and drop some hot takes on the recent trend of newer films being categorized in this subgenre; perhaps unwarrantedly. And so much more!
